View Full Version : Ever popular P168C no longer bundled with JAVA
Rumour has it that one of the best selling chinese mobiles, the P168C, is no longer to be bundled with JAVA support. According to several factories we spoke to, it makes the phone too expensive for the market at which it is aimed.
Whether or not JAVA will be missed by the users of this phone remains to be seen but with many other phones at a similar price point still ariving with JAVA support, I have a feeling we could see the decline of the P168 for fresher looking specimens.

Just to add to that AFF, all the lower end dual sim will not have Java installed e.g. CECT A88.
The best value for money and a far better phone is the i68+, this is the lowest end phone with Java support, and to be frank depending where you buy it the price averages only a few pounds more and is a far more functional phone.
I wouldn't worry too much about this as the idea is to phase the lets say less robust phones out and really make a mark on creating a brand, which in turn will drive down the prices of more expensive models.

Does Java have to be licensed? It could be that the factories are not prepared to pay a license fee?

No Java can be installed without, the eeprom chip gets confused with Jva in these causing (as you will all know) slow touchpad reaction, also the phones find it difficult to run the games Java is needed to run.
So there really was no point in slowing down the phone, also if you play a game your battery is done very fast, also java drains the battery terribly.
Please don't go down the liscence or copywrite road with these, people already starting to mention that, all is ok on that front for the moment..
