Directory gets corrupted

I bought an MP3/MP4 player in Hong Kong a couple of years ago, it's not the same model as the one depicted in your article, it's less sophisticated (chunky metal casing) and actually says 'iPod' on the screen & displays a logo like Apple's on startup.

The problem is that if you try to copy more than about 6 files onto the device, the directory becomes corrupted & displays the same filename many times over.. does anyone else recognise this effect & is there any way to resolve it?

This usually a sign that the memory has been faked or is poor quality memory.

Most commonly, a player sold as 4GB only contains 1GB and a player sold as 8GB only contains 2GB.

Either that or the memory is failing.

There is no economical fix for it I am afraid.
