View Full Version : MP4 Player will not charge

Got a black MP4 player this morning, plugged it into the PC, all fine and dandy.

I've left it connected for more than 8 hours now and the battery indicator is still at zero.

Is there some setting that needs to be made to enable it to charge from the USB cable? The instructions seem to indicate that it does this automatically, but clearly it doesn't.

There can only be three reasons for this :

1. The end user has pushed the cable in without depressing the "lugs" at either side and damaged the charging port.

2. The cable is faulty.

3. The player is faulty.

There are no settings that will stop it from charging, sorry to say.

Return it to the vendor who should be able to tell what has happened and deal with it accordingly.

I've now got it to charge - the on off switch is not marked which way is 'on' and it will not charge unless it is set to on. I had thought that because the player was connected to and talking to the PC it must have been on - it wasn't.

Now the next problem has become apparent.

The instructions ay "Pressing the [MENU] button during playback takes you into the playback settings where you can choose the equaliser settings to enhance your listening pleasure or can set the frequency and rate of playback ; repeat etc"

. . . but whether it is paused or not pressing 'menu' always takes it back to the music root menu. As the default sound is very tinny I would like to be able to access the equaliser to see if it can be improved.

Hi AFW,

Try holding down the MENU button instead of clicking it, if you know what I mean - keep it held down for a second or two before you release it ?

If that doesn't work, try using the centre button instead - depending on the version of your player, these two buttons often have similar roles.
