Change the startup and switching off images?

Is it possible to change the images/animations shown when the device is turned on and switched off? The default startup image is okay, but the default animation shown when switching off the device is, embarassingly, a glittery fairy on a pink background.

I am using the Nano/cross style player, if this helps.
