What made him think in the first place "I know i can climb down there" surely he must have been smoking crack or been on crystal meth. Personally i would have put the grate back on and left him there and passed it off as modern art. Although there is a serious point to this. Remember if you ever drop anything down a drain dont climb down there yourself use one of your children they are a lot smaller and will be able to climb out without any problems lol
