Connection to PC

I received my player a couple of days ago, but when I try to connect it to a USB point it starts to run through the "New Hardware" found procedure, then as it searches for the new hardware information it states that this software is not compatible with Windows XP. The connection fails and I am unable to transfer music files.
Can any one help please?
