W009 Wifi Problems

Dear All,

Firstly, I hope I'm posting in the right forum area and apologies in advance if, through my ignorance, I'm not.

Secondly, sorry if my post is long but I thought I would give as full a description as possible to help the Helpers. Any constructive advise will be most gratefully appreciated.

I have a W009 WiFi Phone it is unlocked and has Bluetooth, Colour Screen, Email / Web, GPRS, Java enabled, MP3 Player, Radio, USB and GSM Quadband.

The problem I have is getting the phone to connect to my home network. On the phones network settings all my Routers configuration are there. My Router dispalyes the MAC Address of the phone. But I still cant get them to connect to allow access to the internet.

I am using UCBrowser 7 as my browser which launches. The browser starts initialising and testing network, loads and then I receive an error message saying "Connection Failure".

Has anyone else had the same problem. Additionally, when I'm within 12 inches of the Router the signal strength on the phone is displayed as good, but I move about 6 feet away the signal strength is displayed as very poor. If that is the norm the WiFi is next to useless.

Should the WiFi work without a sim card being installed?

Great phones - I have one at home and use it 40 feet away from my router no problem - I haven't tried it without a sim card - normally, I would expect one to need to be installed.

I have seen dozens of people with connection problems to wifi enabled phones and its nerly always a router security setup issue.

Have only ever seen one wifi phone (out of 45 to 60) which was not actually able to connect due to its own fault.

Thank you for your response.

My netowrk is unsecured so, does not have a key and, as a consequenc, no security issues with it.

As I mentioned in my previous post, all the Router settings are present on the phone and the phones MAC address is dispalyed in the Routers settings.

I was thinking of buying the W009 china iphone. I wanted to know if it supports additional JAVA softwares?? Like, if i download by computer and copy it to the memory card of this phone, a (.jar) game or internet browser/Opera mini/, will it work on this cellphone???
